In a concerning development, a serious accident at the Greenergy Biofuels Teesside Ltd has resulted in severe injuries to a worker, triggering an immediate response from emergency services and leading to a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
The incident occurred on the morning of May 7 at the facility located off Seal Sands Road Teesside. According to reports, the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) was alerted around 9 am, deploying a robust team including an ambulance crew, a specialist paramedic, a clinical team leader, and the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART). In addition, the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called upon, with a rapid-response vehicle dispatched to the site.
A spokesperson from Greenergy detailed that the workplace accident unfolded early Tuesday morning. “We can confirm an incident took place this morning at our Teesside biofuel plant. Ambulance services have been in attendance providing first aid requirements, and an individual has been transported to hospital. We are closely monitoring the situation, and a full investigation is currently underway,” they stated.
Cleveland Police also responded to the emergency. “Officers were called to an incident at Greenergy Biofuels Teesside this morning. A man suffered serious personal injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. The Health and Safety Executive has been notified,” a police spokesperson reported.
The injured worker was promptly taken to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough for treatment. The extent of the injuries and the circumstances surrounding the incident are still being determined as investigations continue.
