A community support care worker has been celebrated for her outstanding commitment and dedication at the prestigious Belong Champion Awards.

Laura Cooper, a devoted employee at Belong at Home Warrington, was awarded the Compassion Award for her unwavering commitment to ensuring high-quality care and support for her customers. Recognised for her professionalism, positivity, and exceptional ability to create a safe and comfortable environment, Ms Cooper stood out among a strong field of nominees.

The independent panel of judges highlighted her empathetic nature and the profound impact she has on those she cares for. One customer, prone to anxiety, described Ms Cooper as an “angel on Earth” in recognition of the support and reassurance she provides.

Recognising excellence in care

The Belong Champion Awards celebrate the dedication and excellence of care working staff working in the villages and community care teams across the region. Nominees are put forward by customers, their families, and colleagues, with the winners selected from a final shortlist by an independent judging panel.

This year’s winners were honoured at an evening gala at The Queen at Chester Hotel, where they received handmade ceramic trophies as a symbol of their achievements. The event served as a momentous occasion to acknowledge the hard work and commitment of those who go above and beyond in the care sector.

Commitment to quality care

Belong’s chief executive, Martin Rix, expressed his pride in the organisation’s dedicated workforce, stating:

“We have many talented colleagues who have chosen to dedicate their professional lives to caring for our customers, with many nominations describing them as being ‘like family’.

“As discussion around the reform of social care continues to gain traction, we are committed to shining a light on both their professionalism and hard work through these awards.

“We know, first-hand, that it is our ability to invest in our people that is critical to the future of the sector.

“Our unique ‘village living’ set-up creates a truly special working environment where people can thrive, and our annual Champion Awards serve to congratulate all our colleagues for their success.”

A year of achievements for Belong

The Belong network has seen a successful year, with national accolades at the HealthInvestor Seniors Housing Awards, the LaingBuisson Awards, and the Great British Care Awards. Additionally, Belong at Home, the organisation’s community care service, was recognised in Homecare.co.uk’s Top 20 Large and Mid-size Home Care Groups, marking its presence in the rankings every year since 2018.

These achievements underscore Belong’s dedication to providing high-quality care, fostering a supportive working environment, and ensuring that its workforce receives the recognition they deserve.
