UK workers are looking forward to a long weekend break.
In a statement released this morning from The Workers Union, the organisation celebrated the ‘massive’ contribution of working people to the UK’s national success story, as well as the up and coming extended bank holiday.
‘The Jubilee bank holiday is an opportunity to rest, relax and take stock. For some it is also a chance to participate in the Queen’s Jubilee Celebrations. Whatever people choose to do with their time, we hope that they return to work refreshed, relaxed and ready for action.’
‘Working people are looking forward to this well-deserved break. Whether they go on holiday, watch the telly or salute the Queen, it signifies that the covenant between the government and the governed still recognises that hard work should always be rewarded. But let’s not forget those who do have to work over the bank holiday weekend.’
The Workers Union Says…
Sometimes it can seem like we’re reluctant to blow our own trumpets in this country. The Workers Union, however, has no qualms about talking up Britain.
We do not have to go too far to find exciting examples of this roving spirit. Our tech industry leads the way in providing innovative solutions to long-standing problems. Our green industry harnesses cutting edge discoveries to fight climate change; our public services – transport, health and law enforcement – have enviable standing in the world.
But this on its own is not the whole story. These things are expressions of the ingenuity of the British people themselves and should be celebrated as such.
So it is only right and proper that working people have extra holiday at this important time for our country – it is fantastic recognition that they are the engine of our current and future prosperity.
